On Wednesday, 19 September, the city’s government announced their financial plans for the coming four years. The budget will be invested in infrastructure, school buildings and sports facilities, with a further 1.3 billion set aside for building plots. The budget reflects the City’s plans to make Amsterdam a more sustainable, fair and liveable city, based on six pillars of the policy set out in the coalition agreement for 2018-2022.

Reduced funding from central government

Over the coming years, the national government’s investment in Amsterdam will be significantly reduced. In 2019, the city will receive 37 million less, and 110 million less per year from 2022. The City is working to find solutions to continue its current plans with a reduced budget.
