Improving safety and accessibility for cyclists
The City is aiming to relieve Amsterdam’s busy cycle paths and improve traffic safety and accessibility for cyclists. To achieve this, light moped users (which have a maximum speed of 25km/h) will be required to drive on the road and wear a helmet within the boundary of the A10 ring road motorway. The new rule applies to all drivers of scooters with a blue registration plate. However, there will be some exceptions to the rule on some cycle paths and roads. View the proposed changes to the routes and exceptions here.
