On Wednesday, 19 September, the city’s government announced their financial plans for the coming four years. The budget will be invested in infrastructure, school buildings and sports facilities, with a further €1.3 billion set aside for building plots. The budget reflects the City’s plans to make Amsterdam a more sustainable, fair and liveable city, based on six pillars of the policy set out in the coalition agreement for 2018-2022.
Reduced funding from central government
Over the coming years, the national government’s investment in Amsterdam will be significantly reduced. In 2019, the city will receive €37 million less, and €110 million less per year from 2022. The City is working to find solutions to continue its current plans with a reduced budget.
