Brussels stopover no longer required
A direct train service from London to Amsterdam was introduced in 2018, and from 30 April 2020, direct journeys will also be available for the reverse trip from Amsterdam to London. Tickets are now available via Eurostar and NS for the service, which no longer requires passport checks in Brussels, as border control procedures will be handled in Amsterdam. The direct train also has a shorter journey time of four hours and 10 minutes.
Train travel to compete with airlines
There are currently two connections from Amsterdam to London per day. Transport agencies plan to introduce more connections in future in order to provide a more sustainable alternative to short-haul flights.
