Amsterdam City Office opening times on public holidays

The City of Amsterdam’s offices (including City Offices) are closed on most major public holidays; click here for a list (in Dutch). Click here for a full list of public holidays in the Netherlands.

Waste collection on public holidays

If your household waste or bulky refuse is usually picked up on a Friday or Monday, it is likely that it will picked up on an alternative day around the holidays. On public holidays there are no collections. If your collection day falls on a holiday, check with your City District for the replacement collection date, also keep an eye on the news section on these pages.

Parking on public holidays

Street parking is free throughout most of Amsterdam on public holidays. However, in the Centre District of Amsterdam this is only the case on King’s Day – on other public holidays, payment is required between noon and midnight (or 04:00, as on a Sunday). In the District of Zuidoost, payment for parking on holidays is required between 12:00 and 21:00; while parking around the NDSM Wharf in Noord needs to be paid for between 09:00 and 23:00.

If you require further information, please call the city information number 14 020 (Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 18:00).
