Connecting startups and capital
Amsterdam Capital Week establishes an intense focus on capital, creating exceptional opportunities for startups, scale-ups and investors in the duration of five days. The week features high-level events covering capital for the various phases of startups and scale-ups. Amsterdam Capital Week is about two-way connections: all participants – both startups and investors – get to pitch, meet and learn to inspire new investments and long-term partnerships.
To ensure its success, partners from across the Dutch startup ecosystem are involved. Investment firm Inkef Capital was actively involved as a premium partner during the Amsterdam Capital Week 2015, partnering on the events Capital Tour XXL and Capital On Stage. Managing Director Robert Jan Galema helped set up connections with international investors and startups, and he was a committed advisor to the Amsterdam Capital Week team. “It is a pleasure for Inkef to be actively involved in Amsterdam Capital Week. It makes sense: as the Dutch startup scene emerges, the quality and quantity of distinctive business propositions grows and all stakeholders of the ecosystem align and support numerous activities. It is time to show the world that the Netherlands is hot”, Galema said.
During its first edition in 2015, Amsterdam Capital Week hosted over 500 investors and more than 2,000 startups in various maturity phases from across the globe. The international orientation is an important aspect of Amsterdam Capital Week. Fatou Diagne, co-founder of Bootstrap Europe, visited Amsterdam Capital Week in 2015 and said, “We are investors in fast-growing, disruptive companies in Europe, we don’t hear a lot about what’s happening in the Netherlands. Amsterdam Capital Week is a fantastic opportunity to meet investors, startups and innovators and commit capital to growth.” In the 2015 edition, Diagne joined Capital On Stage and the private event at the Mayors Residence. and she has since built alliances with various investors and startups. In the 2016 edition, she joins the Capital Tour XXL and Capital Impact event.
Signature events of Amsterdam Capital Week are Capital On Stage, Capital Tour XXL, Get in the Ring and Angel Island.
Pitch, Meet and Learn
Amsterdam Capital Week’s aim is to tailor and match various types of capital supply and demand: seasoned venture capitalists and investors get together, while first-time angel investors can follow a bootcamp to learn the do’s and don’ts of seed investment. Early-stage startups pitch their ideas to relevant parties and learn how to get alternative funding. Later-stage scale-ups are invited to discuss international scaling strategies with established entrepreneurs and serial investors. Using these methods, Amsterdam Capital Week strengthens the ties to every actor in the startup and investment ecosystem.
