ACE is a sought-after home for entrepreneurs in Amsterdam
Ace Incubator – the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship – is an accelerator that’s home to young entrepreneurs who are generating exciting developments in fields like artificial intelligence, medicine and sustainable technology. Until recently, many of the startup founders it works with were pursuing their academic careers, but they are now busy trying to change the world while chasing their dreams.
An intensive incubation programme for promising startups
Twice a year, ACE selects ten promising startups for an intensive incubation programme. Upon joining the accelerator, each company receives support that’s tailored to its needs, as well as access to professional services and a network of mentors. During their journey, the startups form a thriving entrepreneurial community and learn valuable lessons from one another.
Some of the companies launched at ACE’s location in Startup Village are already making waves, including Metrica Sports. Founded by two PhD candidates in neuroscience, Metrica Sports allowed its creators to combine their love of science and sport. The result was a unique startup that provides data and video analysis tools for football teams and it now works with clients like the Seattle Sounders, Duke University and Valencia CF.
Other big ideas have been born at ACE as well, including TVs that help people with dementia and memory loss, and more are sure to come.
Startups succeeding in the Netherlands and around the world
ACE Incubator’s startups are not only growing in the Netherlands – they are also expanding overseas. One of the accelerator’s most successful graduates – Lumicks – is changing medical research with instruments that allow for the analysis of dynamic and complex details concerning the interaction and behaviour of single cells and molecules.
As this technology can help advance cancer and Alzheimer's care, major scientific institutions are getting in touch and it has opened offices in the Netherlands, China and the US.
