Despite the challenges caused by the coronavirus, promising startups in Amsterdam have continued raising money to support growth and improve their products and services. With a focus on food, design, communications and more, these young companies are set to disrupt industries at the local and global level. 

Zivver receives $17 million to help businesses keep their communications safe

Secure communications specialist Zivver, which offers email data protection and safe file transfer services, raised $17 million in funding. This achievement takes the total amount of money it’s raised to more than $30 million and the latest round was led by DN capital with participation from SmartFin. Zivver plans to use the investment to expand into the UK and other markets while adding new features to its platform, including secure videos and digital signatures. 

Digital manufacturing specialists AM-Flow procures $4 million 

AM-Flow, which provides end-to-end digital manufacturing solutions for 3D printing post-production, has procured $4 million in series A funding. The round was led by BOM Brabant Ventures with support from Midwest Prototyping and Innovatiefonds, among others. The company plans to use the money to enter new markets and develop its suite of AI-based robotics solutions.

Grocery delivery company Local Heroes will benefit from over €1 million in new investments

Local Heroes, which offers an e-commerce platform for ordering food from entrepreneurs working in Amsterdam’s markets, has secured more than €1 million in funding from three sources. The startup was founded last March and helps small businesses compete with major players. It intends to use the new funds to expand nationwide and improve its tech. 

DesignBro exceeds expectations and raises almost €400,000 in funding 

The crowdsourced graphic design platform DesignBro raised nearly €400,000 in a seed round, soaring past its initial goal of €250,000. Dutch angel investor platform Leapfunder, along with private investors, contributed to the round. A graphic design marketplace, DesignBro selects top talent to join and work with clients and plans to use the money to grow internationally. 

Food-focused company Localpepper raises an undisclosed amount from Holland Startup

Aiming to “motivate and engage food service employees through gamified competition,” Localpepper offers an online platform that helps chefs discover regional and seasonal food products. In so doing, it supports the creation of transparent, local and short food chains.
