An expansive new warehouse close to Schiphol
Logistics specialist GEFCO is opening a new warehouse in the Amsterdam Area. The multimodal supply-chain solutions firm works across five continents from more than 300 locations and recorded €4.6 billion in turnover in 2018. Its new warehouse, located close to Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, will help the firm expand its Air & Sea operations.
The 7,000 square metre facility, due to open in June 2020, will provide storage and transport management services for customers working in a number of industries, including aerospace, life sciences and health and the automotive sector. From the new location, GEFCO will provide integrated logistics operations for standard, dangerous and temperature-controlled goods, including time-critical services for urgent shipments.
Why GEFCO choose Amsterdam
GEFCO says the new facility’s proximity to Schiphol Airport and ports in Amsterdam and Rotterdam will provide fast and efficient inbound and outbound connections. The company also said it will help drive new business opportunities and support the international growth of existing customers.
Paul-Henri Freret, GEFCO’s executive vice president, said: “With outstanding connections to all major transport carriers and close proximity to Schiphol Airport and major ports, the new facility is perfectly placed to support our growing air and sea operation.”
The Amsterdam Area: a truly connected city region
Often called the ‘gateway to Europe’, the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area offers full access to the continent: Schiphol Airport is centrally located and the Port of Amsterdam is ranked as one of Europe’s best ports. The region is also a thriving tech centre and home to one of the largest data transport hubs in the world, the Amsterdam Internet Exchange (AMS-IX).
