Supporting women in tech

International Women’s Day is 8 March and events focused on women in tech are taking place throughout Amsterdam over the coming days and weeks. With chances to network, learn, develop and celebrate the accomplishments of women making a difference, these gatherings represent a valuable opportunity for the startup community.


Mindspace will hold a panel discussion about tech and startup careers with a panel of ‘international power women’. Host Sarah Hildering, managing director of music tech startup Ledo, will be joined by several speakers, including Efrat Fenigson, VP of marketing at Mindspace and the co-founder of G-CMO, Anna de Lanoy Meijer, co-owner of the jewellery brand Anna + Nina, and Roella Lieveld, founder and director of Share Network. The event kicks off with a cocktail hour from 17:00, a panel discussion follows at 18:00 and the evening concludes from 19:00 to 20:00 with wine and cheese.

Bridging the Diversity Gap

At “The future of leadership: investing in diversity”, The Next Web will address the lack of diversity in the founding and leadership teams of startups and the unequal allocation of funding. Some of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs will share their stories of struggles and success in the startup ecosystem, and leading Dutch VCs will offer their thoughts on the importance of investing in women-led startups and diverse teams.

BedTalks Special: International Women’s Day

As part of The Student Hotel’s week-long celebration of International Women’s Day, TSH Amsterdam City will host a special edition of the infamous early-morning BedTalks series. The event focuses on ‘collective individualism’ and a group of inspiring women from various fields will look at the gender gap in different parts of the world and discuss approaches to changing the status quo.

Epicenter’s #WeConnect Women in Tech

Epicenter is organising an International Women’s Day celebration to reflect on progress made towards building and sustaining an equal, diverse and inclusive culture in tech, and to celebrate the achievements of women in the industry. Industry leaders, social entrepreneurs and female innovators working on gender equality will come together to look towards a future with more opportunities for women and systemic change towards inclusivity and diversity.

Creating space for female entrepreneurs

The Impact Hub will hold a ‘member take-over’ for female social entrepreneurs that includes pitch sessions, networking and chances to meet with sponsors and investors to access funding. There will also be time to find inspiration and share experiences with fellow attendees.
