Fighting food waste, one meal at a time
Too Good to Go is an app-based platform through which customers can order reduced-price meals that would otherwise be thrown away. Since its launch in Amsterdam (where company headquarters are located) on 22 January, the platform has amassed a community of more than 800,000 registered users and is now affiliated with over 2,000 restaurants. Near closing time, app users can order food from these eateries that’s in danger of being thrown away, saving it from the trash bin. This month saw the millionth food order placed through the app.
Amsterdam is home to a host of sustainability initiatives, circular economy programmes and companies with green credentials, in fields ranging from architecture, infrastructure and construction to sustainable fashion and smart mobility.
