Learning how to create a startup

From 29 to 31 March, Startup Weekend will bring together creatives, marketers, tech experts and entrepreneurs and teach them to build a successful startup. This year’s event takes place at rent24, a coworking space in Amsterdam’s Bos en Lommer neighbourhood.

Over three days, participants will study the different stages of establishing a startup. On Friday, they’ll pitch ideas and form teams. During the following two days, the teams will create products, develop business plans and enhance their pitches. On Sunday, the event concludes with presentations before a panel of judges.

Experts from different industries, serial entrepreneurs, CEOs and company founders will share advice, insights and offer their support and guidance throughout the event. Partners and sponsors of the event include StartupAmsterdam, CustomerGauge, Founders Institute, Future Females, ACE, Startupbootcamp, rent24, Sticker Mule, Creative Tim, ChariTea & Lemonaid and Nightwatch.

Encouraging women entrepreneurs

This year, half of the participating mentors and members of the judging panel will be women. Startup Weekend is also encouraging women entrepreneurs by working with Future Females, an online incubator that will provide participating women with assistance as they build their businesses.

To encourage more female entrepreneurship, Startup Weekend has partnered up with Startup Amsterdam, who will sponsor eight tickets for aspiring female entrepreneurs through a competition in celebration of International Women’s Day, and Future Females will sponsor a free spot and other perks to support these aspiring female entrepreneurs building their businesses.

If you are an (aspiring) entrepreneur, designer, marketer or developer and believe that you deserve to be among these eight women, state your motivation via this application form before 15 March.
