The Amsterdam-based agriculture platform 30MHz has raised €3.5 million from agriculture-related funds SHIFT Invest and the Rabo F&A Innovation Fund. 30MHz provides real-time remote crop monitoring, including historical insights and live alerts about current conditions. The investment will be put towards accelerating product development and improving worldwide distribution.
The Dutch-Kenyan mobile health payments startup CarePay International has secured €40 million to expand to new markets. Founded in 2015 in Kenya, CarePay International provides a mobile platform that connects healthcare providers, beneficiaries and financiers. The growth capital, which makes the company one of Africa’s best-funded startups, has come from a mix of investors, including the Dutch private equity fund IFHA-II, impact investor ELMA Investments and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (which invested through the PharmAccess Group). CarePay International will use the funding to expand its mobile platform beyond Kenya to new markets such as Tanzania and Nigeria.
Ekomenu, a platform offering personalised meal plans that take into account lifestyle, diet, allergies and chronic diseases, has raised €300,000 on the crowdfunding platform Symbid. The startup doubled its turnover in 2018 and will use the funding to kickstart further growth.
Otrium has raised €7 million in a Series A round led by venture capital firm Index Ventures. The online fashion outlet has developed a new model for selling excess inventory with higher margins and will use the funding to grow its international footprint and brand partnerships. Other businesses backed by Index Ventures include Asos, Adyen, Bird, Dropbox, Farfetch, Glossier and Slack.
RestaurantKaart, a startup offering a membership model for last-minute seats in participating restaurants, has raised €750,000 to expand to additional cities.
Vamp.io has raised €2.5 million from Vortex Capital Partners in a Series A round. The Amsterdam-based startup offers a Smart DevOps release management solution and will use the funds for international expansion.
