A joint effort

Eneco and Schiphol Trade Park signed a strategic cooperation agreement on 18 January. According to the agreement, Schiphol Trade Park will be transformed into Europe’s most sustainable business park.

Located next to the A4 motorway, Schiphol Trade Park is intended to meet the demand for sustainable office space in the greater Amsterdam area. It consists of six innovative business environments that aim to provide entrepreneurs with an inspiring base where innovation and green practices thrive.

Exacting standards

A collaboration between Schiphol Real Estate, the Schiphol Area Development Company and the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer, the park is five minutes from Schiphol Airport. All new buildings at the park must qualify for the BREEAM Excellent rating, the second-highest ranking for sustainable construction.

Eneco will serve as an energy partner, advising companies wishing to join the park on energy conservation and sustainability. Speaking with the Dutch Online Portal for Corporate (Social) Responsibility & Sustainability [article in Dutch], Hans Peters, Eneco’s chief customer officer, said, “I am very pleased with this collaboration […]. It also fits in with our ambition to help the whole of the Netherlands to switch to a sustainable, smart and clean energy supply.”
