British agency puts down roots in the Netherlands
Award-winning marketing firm Big Group has launched in Amsterdam after the acquisition of two agencies in the city. After purchasing creative agencies Brandworks and 230V, the London-based marketing agency has merged the two brands to form Big Amsterdam. The new European base will allow the company to better assist clients across the continent while serving as a base for further European expansion.
Big Group, founded in 1991, is headquartered in London and employs more than 150 staff. It is regularly ranked as one of the UK’s top 50 digital agencies and has been voted one of the UK’s leading independent agencies by Marketing Week, The Drum, New Media Age and Recommended Agency Register. This move will enhance the agency’s offerings in several fields, including strategic creative and public relations, as well as seeding and new business development. The new office specialises in brand activation, as well as customer and digital experience services. Michel van den Houten, the founder of Brandworks, has been named its managing director.

Big Amsterdam is based in the Silodam, a harbour-front building that’s home to several creative and communications agencies, including Zapper PR, Design & Practice and Text 100. Currently, the company is working on campaigns for multiple clients, including Hyundai, The North Face and Chiquita.
