Attracting tech companies

“Amsterdam has built a growing reputation as an attractive location choice for international tech companies to set up overseas offices - and it's not hard to see why,” notes the 2019 State of European Tech, which appeared last week. “It is home to one of Europe's largest developer talent clusters and also offers reasonable costs in terms of office space.”

Atomico’s 2019 State of European Tech report is the largest and most comprehensive dataset on European tech. With over 350 charts, the annual report covers everything from the positive impact of diversity and inclusion to founder mental health, policy and deep tech.

A shining light

The report also noted that Dutch tech firms might bring in the highest annual amount of growth capital ever in 2019. And due to the ongoing trade war between the United States and China, Europe’s technology sector has become a relative “shining light”.

Atomico is a venture capital firm belonging to Swedish entrepreneur Niklas Zennström, who originally founded Skype and has invested in Amsterdam startups such as MessageBird and Framer
