Amsterdam’s startups continue to enjoy fast growth
Every year, TNW and Adyen join forces to show off Europe’s fastest-growing tech companies. The companies are ranked by their revenue growth over the last two years. In the recent fifth edition, Amsterdam’s startups dominated in the Netherlands category – securing eight places in the top 10. This should come as no surprise, given that the city’s startups received a collective €322 million in funding last year.
The full top 10:
- Online supermarket Picnic (Amsterdam).
- Recreational-vehicle rental company Camptoo (The Hague).
- Job advertising startup Wonderkind (Amsterdam).
- Photo book pros ReSnap (Nijmegen).
- Cybersecurity startup EclecticIQ (Amsterdam).
- Software company Impraise (Amsterdam).
- Flower delivery experts bloomon (Amsterdam).
- E-commerce service Tiqets (Amsterdam).
- Tech company KIIROO (Amsterdam).
- E-commerce service Otrium (Amsterdam).
Online supermarket Picnic takes the top spot
Online supermarket Picnic took the top spot. The Amsterdam-based startup received a whopping €100 million in series-B funding last year alone. And the company's speedy customer experience and smart-shopping innovations – all backed by cutting-edge algorithms – are continuing to impress.
“Technology allows us to use deep learning and behavioural analytics to create a personal supermarket,” said CTO Daniel Gebler. “The combination of this and our in-app personalisation means that users have everything they need at their fingertips, accessible with minimum time and effort.”
Fastest-growing startup in Europe
Picnic will now go head-to-head against the other national finalists, which include startups from Spain, the UK, Germany, France and Sweden. The six companies will vie for the coveted title of Europe’s fastest-growing startup, and the winner will be announced at Amsterdam tech conference TNW on 24 May 2018.
“We are thrilled to see so much activity in the European startup scene,” said Roelant Prins, Adyen’s CCO. “Adyen is lucky to be in a position to work with many fast-growing startups and to help them grow by accepting payments from all over the world – we’re committed to continuing that support and to accelerating growth across industries. I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s winners at TNW Europe.”
