A world-leading AI event in Amsterdam
The globe’s biggest artificial-intelligence summit, World Summit AI, is being held in Amsterdam’s Gashouder this year. The tech summit – happening on 11 and 12 October 2017 – features talks with over 200 industry insiders, including speakers from NASA, Apple, the United Nations, UBER and IBM Watson.
“There are many technical conferences about artificial intelligence but few that bring together thought leaders from science, technology, business and policy making,” says Ralf Hebrich, Amazon’s director of machine learning.
Over 2,000 attendees will be present at the event to discuss, debate and join forces to influence the AI industry in a positive way. As well as the awesome line-up of speakers, the programme features focus groups, innovation showcases and workshops on all things applied artificial intelligence. The event is the brainchild of City.AI – a network made up of over 100 events in 20 cities worldwide.
Amsterdam: the obvious choice
Amsterdam was an easy choice for the summit, given the city’s cutting-edge tech ecosystem, acumen for innovation, world-class startup scene and the truly pioneering AI research happening in Amsterdam Science Park and the city's other innovative research institutes.
“We are very pleased to host the world's leading AI conference, SummitAI, in Amsterdam; a centre point in the European AI community,” said Amsterdam’s Deputy Mayor Kajsa Ollongren.
Improving the face of the AI industry
The event aims to deal with two major problems in the applied AI industry: acquisitions and funding outweigh supply, and there is currently very little opportunity for collaboration and networking.
“The problem with the AI space is that there is too much hype and too little collaboration in terms of sharing lessons learned,” say Mike Reiner and Christoph Auer-Welsbach, City.AI's founders. “With World Summit AI, we want to bring key stakeholders of the community together, and we are closely listening to our City.AI community to address key challenges and share the latest AI developments.”
Rockstart’s startup competition
Rockstart – one of Amsterdam’s key startup accelerators – will host a funded startup competition at the summit. The winners will receive a hefty prize fund, and – of course – there’ll be an impressive line-up of investors present, making this an unmissable opportunity for any tech startup.
