A key logistics hub near Amsterdam
Somerset Capital Partners has broken ground on its new multi-tenant distribution centre at Schiphol Logistics Park, near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. The firm Heembouw recently started construction of the first centre, with the initial foundation placed during a ceremony held on 18 May.
This building marks the first phase of the total development project. The firm Mulderblauw architecten produced the design for the new 20,000 m2 building, with the first phase to be delivered during the final quarter of 2017. During the second phase, Somerset will develop flexible business units to help meet the high demand for property near Schiphol. Heembouw will start construction on these units, which will begin at 1,500 m2, in September. Habeon Architecten are responsible for the design of phase 2.
The new development is situated on the plot adjacent to the AMS8 data centre, which was commissioned by Interxion and completed by Somerset earlier this year. Plans are also underway for the construction of a second data centre in the same area.
Somerset Capital Partners is an investor in real estate, private equity and financial markets, specialised in the development of high-quality, large-scale real estate, with a focus on logistics and data centres. The Heembouw Groep is a building company active in the commercial, office and residential real-estate markets. Its own architectural firm, Habeon Architecten, also develops plans for projects.
