More cooperation between the two countriesOn 12 February, the NICTT (Netherlands India Chamber of Commerce & Trade) officially opened its doors in Mumbai. The event was attended by representatives from more than 200 companies, inducing Jet Airways, Indofil Industries, CIM Global, and Global Cloud Xchange. Delegates from the City of Amsterdam and the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency were also present.
The NICCT hopes to encourage bilateral trade and strengthen the economic relations between India and The Netherlands. The NICTT Chairman Vipin Moharir said that the organization will help keep its members informed about relevant business developments in both countries, and will also provide opportunities to meet peers and expand networks.
Indian companies in AmsterdamThe ties between India and the Netherlands, and especially Amsterdam, are long and strong. Many major Dutch companies, such as Shell, Unilever, KLM, and Rabobank, already have a growing and successful presence in India.
Likewise, about 180 Indian companies are currently active in the Netherlands, over half of which are based in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area. Many of these companies are active in the field of ICT, and benefit greatly from Amsterdam’s leading role as in international IT hub. The 90 Indian companies that are located in or near Amsterdam provide about 12,000 jobs.
Some of the leading Indian companies with a presence in Amsterdam include Tata Consultancy Services, Cognizant, Wipro, Sun Pharmaceutical, and Infosys Technologies.
