Amsterdam: The perfect site for business development in ICTAutotask, a provider of remote monitoring and management (RMM) services, will open an Amsterdam office in 2016, as reported by Dutch IT Channel (link in Dutch). According to Mark Cattini, the CEO of Autotask, this move will help Autodesk offer even better service to its partners and customers. He was speaking at an event hosted by Autotask, the Smart IT Summit Amsterdam, which took place in Amsterdam on 1 December 2015.
Autotask RMM is a cloud-based business management platform that helps organisations make better business decisions. Autotask also develops professional services software that integrates with expense tracking, project management, sales, and remote monitoring.
The company was founded in 2001, and is headquartered in upstate New York. It currently has about 400 employees around with world, with offices in cities such as London, Munich, Sydney, Beijing, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Amsterdam and the internet of things (IoT)
According to Cattini, Autodesk’s expansion to Amsterdam is partly in response to the increasing demand for managed services, which Autotask wants to take advantage of with its RMM solutions.
An example of the growing demand is in the field of the internet of things, which requires solutions that allow management and security to be integrated with other environments. Cattini expressed that these developments offer ample opportunities for service providers such as Autodesk.
Amsterdam is already playing a pioneering role in the growth of the internet of things. An example is a project recently launched in Amsterdam known as The Things Network. This initiative will allow the entire city to be covered in a wireless signal that connects everything from boats and bikes to trash cans and street lights. Unsurprisingly, the Port of Amsterdam has shown a great interest in the scheme.
