The industry’s premier event
The IBC is held in Amsterdam every September. It is the world’s leading event for professionals in the creation, management, and delivery of entertainment and news content. Every year, it draws more than 55,000 attendees from the world of electronic media and entertainment, from more than 170 countries.
IBC combines a conference with an exhibition that featutres more than 1,600 suppliers of electronic media technology, from well-known brands to specialist experts. More than 300 speakers are expected to attend the conference to share insights on key issues at the heart of the entertainment, media, and technology sector.
Across five days, the conference will feature demonstrations, workshops, presentations, and more. It is organised into thematic streams to make discovery and navigation of the events easy and intuitive.
Keynote addresses this year will be given by luminaries such as the Academy Award-winning film director Ang Lee, and the legendary advertising figure Sir Martin Sorrell, the CEO of WPP. In the IBC Future Zone, visitors will see how BBC is creating enhanced viewer experiences for a real-time interactive cooking show, and there will also be a special showcase on NASA about challenges such as shooting video imagery in space.
Amsterdam and IBC
Originally known as the International Broadcasting Convention when it began in 1967, IBC has since evolved to encompass the whole breadth of media creation, management, and delivery. After careful research into venues that were capable of meeting the ICB’s very specific demands, the organisation chose the Amsterdam RAI, hosting its first IBC there in 1992. IBC became an annual event starting in 1994, and has remained in Amsterdam ever since.
