Largest conference outside of the US chooses AmsterdamThe 2016 edition of the European Breast Cancer Conference, EBCC-10, will take place at the Amsterdam RAI from 9 to 11 March. It is the largest breast cancer conference to take place outside of the United States.
EBCC-10 will focus on recent advances that have been made for breast cancer patients. The parallel EBCC Exhibition is an essential element of the conference, and provides the perfect environment for participants to share knowledge, promote education, and raise awareness about breast cancer.
The event is organized by ECCO (European CanCer Organisation), an organisation that connects 60,000 oncology stakeholders throughout Europe. It aims to create awareness about patients’ needs, encourage progressive thinking in cancer policy and education, and promote European cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment.
Amsterdam a hub for life sciences and conferencesThe conference highlights Amsterdam’s role as a hotspot for life sciences and health research. With two universities and academic hospitals, and more than 400 life sciences companies and organisations, Amsterdam is a solid choice for this kind of conference. About 20% of the Dutch life sciences workforce is located in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, employing about 5,330 academic researchers and 4,640 business employees. Key areas of focus include oncology, neurosciences, immunology, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and imaging. This means that companies active in the life science sector in Amsterdam will enjoy excellent access to innovative technologies, clinical trials, biobanks, and centres of expertise.
Amsterdam is also an ideal conference destination, hosting about 650 conferences and attracting 700,000 business visitors every year. With its high-quality facilities, venues, and services, the city is a favourite meeting place for planners and delegates alike, and the Union of International Associations (UIA) has named the city one of the top 10 international convention sites.
