Denim producers to convene on Amsterdam’s WesterparkThe denim trade show Kingpins, whose Amsterdam edition will take place from 13-14 April, 2016, will this year introduce a new side show, called WHY by Kingpins. This new branding-only show will be the first trade show ever to focus exclusively on branding in the denim industry.
The show will be held at the Transformatorhuis in Amsterdam's Westerpark, alongside the main Kingpins show.
According to its organisers, WHY is meant to act as a platform for denim brands and branding companies to share inspiration and education, while also shaping the future of branding design. It will feature everything from labels and trims to accessories and innovative technologies, and will also offer free seminars and panel discussions.
As Kingpins founder Andrew Olah said, "There isn't a show that is giving branding, accessory, and label and tag companies a big enough spotlight. WHY is built on the idea that branding is a key component to the success of a denim brand, and it is an area of our industry that is particularly interesting right now."
Amsterdam a denim hotspotAmsterdam is home to many international fashion brands, such as Viktor & Rolf and Scotch & Soda. But when it comes to denim specifically, Amsterdam knows no equal: it has been called “the world capital of jeans,” with global denim innovators G-Star Raw, KOI, and Denham Jeans all based here.
Amsterdam also hosts one of the world’s leading denim events, Amsterdam Denim Days, which is where the Amsterdam Kingpins show takes place. This week-long cultural festival brings together consumers and denim-industry insiders, and includes in-store events, seminars, and fabric exhibitions. Amsterdam is also the home of Denim City, a centre for craftsmanship and innovation in the denim industry.
