Two more towers for Amsterdam
The development is part of the rebirth of an eye-catching business and leisure location opposite Amsterdam Central Station, across the River IJ. The City of Amsterdam announced the news in a press release (in Dutch). In addition to the A’DAM tower, which is currently being transformed into a stunning business and leisure location, two new towers will be built. One of them will house the Maritim Hotel, which will significantly strengthen the position of Amsterdam as an attractive city to host congresses and events. The second tower will house approximately 220 apartments.
With a total of 52.000 square meters, 600 four-star hotel rooms, the new Maritim hotel will be one of Europe’s largest congress hotels. Construction of the hotel is expected to be completed in 2018. The number of congress visitors in Amsterdam is already steadily increasing each year – last year, this resulted in a record number of 400,000 international visitors and a profit increase of 5%.
The new hotel will be located on the “Overhoeks strip” next to the A’DAM tower (formerly known as Overhoeks).
