Bringing the experts to Amsterdam

AIDSImpact is an international science conference that addresses issues related to HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment, and care. It focuses on AIDS generally, as well as on specific communities and countries that are the hardest hit by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The conference brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, community workers, and policy makers from around the world.

A hub for life sciences

With two universities and academic hospitals based in the region, and more than 400 life sciences companies and organisations, Amsterdam is the clear choice for this kind of conference. According to a report published by BiGGAR Economics, about 20% of the Dutch life sciences workforce is located in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, which employs about 5,330 academic researchers and 4,640 business employees in this field. Scientific excellence is particularly focused around oncology, neurosciences, immunology, infectious diseases, cardiovascular diseases, and imaging.

World-renowned conference destination

The very first AIDSImpact conference was also held in Amsterdam, back in 1991. And as the conference’s website explains, returning to Amsterdam was an easy choice. The city is an ideal conference destination, hosting about 650 conferences every year, and attracting about 700,000 business visitors in the process. With its high-quality facilities, venues, and services, the city is a favourite meeting place for planners and delegates alike, and the Union of International Associations (UIA) has named the city one of the top 10 international convention sites.
