Industry leader’s Amsterdam home
Bell Helicopter has been an integral contributor to the Netherlands’ aerospace cluster for decades. Founded in 1935, Bell Helicopter first specialised in design and production of fighter aircraft, and then became the first company to obtain certification for a commercial helicopter. Now an industry leader with widespread recognition, Bell Helicopter has delivered more than 35,000 aircraft to customers around the world.
The aerospace cluster in Amsterdam goes back nearly a century, to the establishment of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines in 1919 and the founding of the Fokker production plant. Currently, more than 60% of established aerospace companies in the Netherlands are located in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, accounting for 10,000 jobs.
Recent expansions in the region include international aerospace companies such as Bombardier Aerospace, Embraer and Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation, thanks to the Netherlands’ availability of a skilled aerospace workforce, excellent supply chain, independence within the industry and favourable tax climate.
