The goal of the symposium is to introduce scientists and researchers to new digital technologies that are relevant to their fields. The event will take place in the Amsterdam ArenA stadium.

The symposium will be hosted by the Netherlands eScience Center (NLeSC), an organization that works with academia and industry to develop tools that benefit the broader scientific community. This emphasis is needed for the Dutch knowledge sector to remain competitive, and to achieve the greatest possible return from scientific investments.

Expert speakers, wide range of knowledge

With more than 35 expert speakers from a wide range of scientific backgrounds, the symposium will offer many new perspectives on data-driven research. The event will be divided into five themes: Life Sciences & eHealth, Environment & Sustainability, Humanities & Social Sciences, Physics & Beyond, and Computer & Data Sciences. The symposium will address challenges such as climate change, resource scarcity, a growing and aging population, and increased urbanization. In terms of networking, the program will also offer many opportunities to meet researchers, data scientists, students, CIOs, and CTOs.

Amsterdam as the perfect location

It makes perfect sense that an eScience symposium is being held in Amsterdam. The city is home to two world-class universities, countless research institutes, and more than 100,000 students. Due to Amsterdam’s highly-educated workforce and its strong and flexible knowledge infrastructure, the city is very popular with scientific start-ups.
