Kobelco’s return to Europe

The official opening ceremony of the new European headquarters was followed by the first Kobelco dealer conference since the manufacturer’s return to Europe. The European headquarters were re-established in Almere in 2013 and include the sales and marketing departments for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the CIS as well as a parts warehouse to support after-sales service across the region.

Milestone for Kobelco

In a press release the Managing Director Makoto Kato commented: “This event was a major milestone for KCME. Since announcing our official return to Europe we have been working hard in the background to build the foundations for a strong and successful business that will go the distance. We are here to stay and are focused on increasing Kobelco’s market share in Europe.

“The strong brand heritage and product offerings give us the perfect platform to do that but the final piece of the jigsaw is productive partnerships with the right dealers. We believe we now have that third element and we are looking forward to providing strong products and after-sales support for our dealer partners and their customers.”

Almere attracts

Almere has all the attributes to prove an excellent base for KCME’s plans for expanding the market share in Europe. It is home to one of the most dynamic business centres in the Netherlands, with construction and development plans progressing quickly. This has not gone unnoticed by many foreign companies that have chosen to set up their business there.

Abundance of professionals

Young, highly trained professionals are over-represented in Almere, and most of them are looking for jobs close to home. Currently, 40,000 people living in Almere work outside of the town. Each new company which opens here is flooded with applications, a unique situation in the Dutch labour market.

Moreover, Almere is well connected in many ways. It’s located just 25 minutes from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and benefits from a fibre-optic project that is unique to Europe. Every business and household has access to high-speed broadband, which draws an increasing number of ICT companies, data centres and business service providers to Almere.
