International success from the Amsterdam Area
The prize was presented by alderperson Ben Scholten (Economic Affairs) during the city’s annual New Year’s reception. Later on, the news was shared on the website of the City of Almere (in Dutch). Grundfos established a presence in Almere in 2007 and has also contributed significantly to several sustainability projects. An example of such a project is the ‘Bring Water 2 Life’ project, which saw free water pumps installed at locations in Kenya. The active role Grundfos plays in projects like this contributed to the award from the City of Almere.
Almere is the fastest growing city in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area and has been elected to host the Floriade in 2022 – a major national gardening event. This illustrates that it is a thriving city with ambitious investment plans for both business and residential areas. Although some cities in the Netherlands may be struggling with a shortage of space and labour, Almere – just 25 minutes from Amsterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – has grand expansion plans. By mid-2030, the current population of 190,000 will have doubled and the number of businesses will expand to provide jobs for these new arrivals.
For international companies already active in the Amsterdam Metropolitan Area, amsterdam inbusiness is always working to nurture growth. Moreover, we can help multinationals give back to society by embracing corporate responsibility projects. Interested in learning more? Don’t hesitate to contact us.
