Expanding in the Nordic countries
Eyeworks is a Dutch television production company that develops, produces and distributes international content in many different genres, including fiction and variety entertainment. According to Reinout Oerlemans, the company's founder and CEO, “Eyeworks already has a strong position in Scandinavia (Sweden, Denmark and Norway), and with the expansion into Finland, we can form a stronger creative collective in all of the Nordic countries.” The acquisition was made public in a press announcement.
A leading location
Data published by the international media research company Eurodata illustrates that Amsterdam is emerging as a leading location for the development of television formats. Amsterdam-based media producers such as Eyeworks, Endemol and BlazHoffski develop formats that are being watched by billions of viewers all over the world. Programmes such as Big Brother, The Voice, Working Girls, I Know What You Did… Last Friday, Obese and many more were all developed here in the region.
Blossoming creative industry
Amsterdam is one of the top 5 creative cities in the world, alongside giants like London, New York and Los Angeles. The creative sector is blossoming here and this is combined with an exceptional ICT infrastructure. The fact that the Amsterdam Area is home to almost one hundred companies directly or indirectly involved in designing and developing online, mobile or serious games certainly has a spill-over effect on the development of television concepts. Many producers are also experimenting with the integration of social media into new TV formats.
