Dynamic and creative business environment
Clever Clover chose Amsterdam because of its dynamic and creative business environment and the positivity experienced by entrepreneurs in the region. The company is owned and run by two Dutch and one Austrian investors. According to their website, they intend to provide promising start-ups with hands on advice and investments of up to 50,000 euros.
Clever Clover is not the only new business accelerator that is active in the Amsterdam Area. This spring, the second incubator programme organised by the Amsterdam-based project Rockstart Accelerator was launched, with 10 new technology start-ups taking part.
Vibrant start-up hub
The fact that Amsterdam is bursting with entrepreneurial talent has not gone unnoticed internationally. In March 2013, Site Collection, a corporate real estate magazine, published an in-depth article about Amsterdam as a perfect location for international, innovative start-ups. Crucially, it notes that: “One of the first capitals of global commerce is still golden after all these years.”
During a visit to the city in March 2012, Dom Sagolla, one of the co-founders of Twitter, praised Amsterdam for creating a great culture for app makers. He noted the excellent ecosystem for software development in Amsterdam, mentioning the weekly networking opportunities, great contacts with Silicon Valley, the lifestyle of cycling and the fearlessness of developers here.
