Amsterdam: a renowned European ICT Hub
The Amsterdam Metropolitan Area is exceptionally well connected digitally. It is a home to fast connections and high broadband internet utilisation rates, as well as the largest data transfer hub in the world. As such, Amsterdam is a thriving base for the ICT industry and it is no surprise that the city is a very popular location for professional ICT events. Some interesting meetings and conferences have already been announced to take place in Amsterdam over the coming months.
From 16 to 18 September, the eighth edition of the Conference on Critical Information Infrastructures Security (CRITIS) will focus on the resilience of smart cities. The conference is set to take place at the Eye Filmmuseum and the STCA (Shell Technology Centre Amsterdam).
Broadband World Forum
From 22 to 24 October 2013, the 13th annual Broadband World Forum is set to take place in the Amsterdam RAI. This year’s edition will host an impressive line-up of speakers including Kevin Lo (General Manager of Google Access), Neelie Kroes (EU Commissioner for the Digital Agenda) and Michael Abbattista (Global Head of Telco Partnerships at Spotify).
Cloudstack Collaboration Conference Europe
After two successful events in the United States, the first European Cloudstack Collaboration Conference will take place in Amsterdam’s Beurs van Berlage from 21 to 22 November 2013. During this event, users, developers and other interested professionals can learn more about this open source software.
A new year and continued ICT success
Continuing into 2014, Amsterdam is likely to continue to host a wide range of interesting ICT-related events. For example, Hack In The Box (HITB) has announced that its next security conference in Amsterdam (27 to 30 May 2014) will feature a hacker expo and for the first time, an all-women line-up of keynote speakers. The hacker expo (‘haxpo’) will run alongside the conference from 28 to 30 May 2014 at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
