Three tips for planning COVID-friendly events

Finding the ideal venue for your event is essential for its overall success. COVID-19 has transformed the meetings industry, and safety considerations for travelling and gathering, and hybrid possibilities, are now more important than ever. We share three tips for planning a COVID-friendly event to match your needs.

1. No concessions on location and access to the event venue

As a meeting professional you know that location can make or break the event. You can maximise event attendance with a location that is easily reached and has good transport links. After the lockdown, spending a limited time travelling on a clean and safety enhanced public transport system is an important consideration.

Amsterdam is a short flight or train ride away from home, usually your travel time from destinations in and around mainland Europe stays under three or four hours. After arriving at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, it’s a 15 minute-ride to the city centre, where you’ll find more than 500 event venues at the heart of the action.

2. Select a venue and location with great digital connectivity

Due to the pandemic, hybrid events combining live and virtual experiences have become the new normal and are predicted to be the future of our industry even when in-person conferences and gatherings return. Meeting planners are looking for extra amenities at event venues such as studio facilities, on-site tech support and a reliable and fast digital connection.

As one of the world's most digitally savvy and innovative cities, Amsterdam has the venues, knowledge and connectivity to host impactful hybrid events. The city is home to one of the strongest internet backbones worldwide and the region ranks highly for broadband availability, internet speed and reliability in Europe. On top of this, many event venues offer high quality studio facilities and tech support.

3. Make sure restaurants, bars, hotels and attractions are nearby

Quality hotels, attractions and restaurants near the venue help create a balance between work, socialising and relaxation for your attendees - and allows them to easily discover the city in their free time.

Amsterdam is one of the most compact cities in Europe. Pretty much all event venues offer a wide range of hotelsrestaurants and bars, attractions and 750 years of history at their doorstep – all easily accessed and adapting to new regulations for a safe and comfortable visit.
