Logistics provider chooses Amsterdam to boost European operations

Crane Worldwide Logistics is to open a warehouse facility at Schiphol Logistics Park to boost supply chain services in Europe.

The US-headquartered company is a leading global freight forwarder, offering both air and ocean freight and warehouse solutions in 30 countries. It chose the site, near Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, for its easy access to the airport, Rotterdam port and mainland Europe.

The facility will also run a 24/7 aircraft on ground (AOG) operation thanks to it’s ideal location for aerospace and aviation clients.

Gulhan Isik, managing director at Crane Worldwide Logistics Netherlands, said: “During the last six months, we have received an increase in requests for additional storage capacity in Amsterdam as well as our other facilities in Holland, such as Tilburg. There is certainly a notable shift in interest that is favourable to us here in the Netherlands.”

Jason Stretton, regional vice president Europe, Middle East and Africa at Crane Worldwide Logistics, added: “With capacity challenges into Europe from China, it has made sense for our clients to increase inventories in mainland Europe.”

Gateway to Europe

The Amsterdam Area offers full access to the European market, thanks to its strategic location, access to the Port of Amsterdam and Rotterdam and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.  As one of the four main European airports, and Europe’s third-largest cargo airport, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is also supported by a wide transport network of rail and road, making it a true European gateway. Since Brexit, many logistics companies have decided to set up a European base in Amsterdam to better serve customers on the continent.
