Hundreds of international brands to choose from
Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, just a stone’s throw from Amsterdam city centre, is a charming, reconstructed 17-century village and a Mecca for fashionistas and shoppers alike. Offering more than 250 international fashion and lifestyle brands - including Hugo Boss, Michael Kors and Tommy Hilfiger – it’s the perfect place to get your hands on your favourite labels and designer goods, all of which are discounted by between 30% and 70% off the normal retail price. Before my visit I convince myself that I don’t really need anything, but it’s not long before I’m filling my bags with luxury goods bought at amazing prices and worrying how I’ll carry all my new goodies back to the car.
A shop for all seasons at Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet
If you’re in need of a break from shopping, there’s also plenty of hip cafés and pleasant restaurants to soak up the cosy atmosphere. You can grab a seat and relax in an outdoor area, or visit one of the children’s facilities to help keep the kids entertained - including a large outdoor play area with swings and slides. Of course, it’s not only your wardrobe you’ll be filling up after a day spent shopping at Batavia Stad Fashion Outlet, as there’s also outlets selling sunglasses, jewellery, and even homeware. Seasonal stores also offer different products throughout the year, and when I was there I even contributed my own idea for a flavour of pepernoten (little Dutch cookies) at the special Van Delft Pepernoten shop – while also sampling the freebies on offer.
A short trip from Amsterdam city centre
Getting to Batavia Stad from Amsterdam couldn’t be easier. A Shopping Shuttle will take you to and from the city centre in under an hour. You can board the bus seven-days-a-week from the pick-up point in front of the Park Plaza Victoria Hotel, just across the road from Amsterdam Central Station. After you have finished shopping, the Shopping Shuttle will drive you right back into the city centre at 16:00. A return trip to Amsterdam costs just €15 for adults, and €7.50 for kids. If you’re driving to Batavia Stad in your own car, then parking costs just €3 for the whole day.
Take your pick of special services
There’s also several special services on-site, like WiFi, luggage storage, stylist services and a VIP room. Also, after buying most of the brands on offer in the centre, there’s a tax refund point on site so you can receive your tax refund back in cash at the Information Centre. And if you live in the Netherlands then it is definitely worth registering as a Batavia Stad MEMBER, as you’ll be the first to be informed of great events and receive even more savings. The best things in life might not always be free, but at Batavia Stad they certainly won’t cost you very much.
