Playing with the future with scent

Do you fancy yourself as a city planner with a nose for development? Why not put your skills to the test and play the future of Amsterdam through scent in this workshop with a difference? Mediamatic, in collaboration with The Institute for Art and Olfaction, Play the City and five perfumers have developed an interactive game, Play the Future, involving scents around city planning. The area in question is known as the Marineterrein, and is currently the topic of much debate as the city opens up parts of it in the city centre. The aim of the game is discover potential plans and to consider its future using your olfactory senses together with like-minded players.

I amsterdam Podium: The Revolution Televised

One way to send a positive message and to beat a sense of global gloom is to open the cultural season with The Revolution Televised. Featuring the HAYP band, Ivan Peroti, the SE! Gospel Choir and Red Limo String Quartet to name but a few, The Revolution Televised promises an evening of soulful covers featuring protest songs and some classics by the likes of John Legend, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, The Rolling Stones and more. Tap your feet and join the party.

BankGiro Loterij Museum Kwartier

Located on the Marineterrein; The BankGiro Lottery Museum Quarter will provide a preview of the new exhibitions from the upcoming season in the city’s leading museums. Rembrandt is the focus of 2019, and what better way to celebrate his life and work that to play the leading role in his iconic painting The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp. How? By posing in a nude suit in a massive 3D photobooth as part of the event. The interactivity continues with a gigantic version of Van Gogh's world-famous Almond Blossom painting allowing visitors to walk through it and discover its story.

Six makers from XRBASE accepted the challenge to create a unique AR artwork especially for Uitmarkt. Take a tour to discover the digital creations and to meet the makers all in the surrounds of a former military shooting range. You can take the tour via the app at any time.

Fringe Festival: Vrije Uitloop

‘The winner takes it all' is a dynamic dance performance balancing greed between a half-god and a fallen winner. It’s an investigation into the body language of winners asking how does a ruler move, and all expertly portrayed, performed and choreographed by MAN || CO.
