Best Table for 1 (or More!)

In town for a business trip and looking for a tasty, entertaining, and unabashed way to enjoy a table for one? Enjoy playing a game of wills? Aren’t too concerned about the wallet? Than Zushi is your next hot spot for lunch or dinner.

Circular Sushi
This trendy-but-classy Japanese-restaurant-on-a-conveyor-belt is conveniently located on the Amstel in the center of the city, sandwiched between the Muntplein, Rembrandtplein and the Hotel de L’Europe.
Going against the very grain of old-fashioned Dutch frugality, Zushi provides a tasty array of sushi, maki, tempora, teppanyaki and dessert dishes that will seductively entice you as they parade along the conveyor belt/bar on cleverly colour-coded plates ranging from €2.20 - €7.00.

Beat the System zushi.gif (38 Kb)
Decipher the colour-coding (pretty colours = more expensive). For example, the less expensive and less creative orange, blue and green plates (edema beans, cucumber sushi, sweetened squash sushi, miso soup) require more patience than their more enticing and more frequent white and purple counterparts (spicy tuna salad sushi, spinach salad with ginger dressing, green tea dumplings), which will cost you at least €4.50 a pop. Inventive specials (such as soft-shell crab) can cost you up to €7.00. And you won’t be able to top it off with a bavarois, ‘banana mini pancake’ or tempura ice for less than white or purple (€4.50 and €7.00). But you’ll sure have fun trying!

Enjoy Your Solitude
Relax. Take your eyes off the procession once in a while and watch the chefs in the middle of the bar. Stare out of the wall-sized window for lovely views of the Amstel and its passers-by. Chat with the friendly wait staff or get to know your neighbours (including several single-ish internationals). Linger. Good things come to those who wait.

Or Bring Some Colleagues
There are also a few larger tables that can sit up to six people if you decide you want some company.
