GRI Conference in Amsterdam
From 7-9 May 2008, Amsteram is hosting the international Amsterdam Global Conference on Sustainability and Transparancy by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).
The conference is taking place in the Hotel Okura in Amsterdam. The central theme is the way sustainability issues are reported and monitered internationally. More than one thousand international participants will be exchanging ideas, methods and experience. Mayor of Amsterdam Job Cohen opents the conference on Wednesday 7 May. Other speakers include Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan and the Development Cooperation Minister of the Netherlands, Bert Koenders.
During the conference the City of Amsterdam will present its 'Climate Vision'. In 2025 the CO2 emission of the city will be 40% lower than in the reference year of 1990. In 2015 the municipal organisation will be climate neutral. The council cannot achieve this alone and has appealed to citizens, workers and companies to help make the 2025 goal possible.
