Foreword from the Mayor
More than 60 years after the end of World War II, we still remember the war and liberation. At the same time we realize how important freedom is and how fragile democracy can be.
Our freedom is not to be taken for granted. Freedom is never finished, we need to work on it daily. Only then can we be sure that people with different world-views can live together in peace and freedom in our country. Everybody has the right to choose their own lifestyle, based on equality.
So, take part. On the 4 May join the Silent Procession from the Museumplein to the Dam or by a remembrance in your own borough. And let it be known on 5 May how important freedom is for you. Talk and celebrate together on the Museumplein or in your own neighbourhood!
