KLM to be the official carrier of Amsterdam’s year-long celebrations
On 1 January the entire city will take to the streets to ring in the New Year and kick off the start of Amsterdam 2013. Filled with a number of prominent anniversaries and brand-new initiatives, 2013 promises to be a memorable year for the city’s residents and visitors alike. As this festive year approaches, Amsterdam Marketing is pleased to announce KLM’s involvement as primary sponsor and official carrier of Amsterdam 2013.
Amsterdam Marketing partners with KLM
As Amsterdam 2013 celebrates the city’s rich history and bright future, the partnership with KLM was a natural fit. For almost a century, KLM has combined its pioneering spirit with contemporary knowledge and experience. With more than 200 aircraft and 171 destinations, KLM is truly the gateway to Amsterdam.
According to Peter Hartman, KLM’s CEO, “KLM connects Amsterdam to the rest of the world through Schiphol Airport. Each year, twenty-nine million passengers travel with KLM and nine million passengers make Amsterdam their final destination.KLM staff are valued ambassadors for Amsterdam, just as Amsterdam’s residents are ambassadors for KLM.”
The sponsorship and year-long collaboration was summed up nicely by Amsterdam Mayor Eberhard van der Laan, who stated, “Cooperation between KLM and Amsterdam is of great importance to the city. KLM and Amsterdam are strong brands, typically Dutch and recognised worldwide. Thanks in part to KLM, Amsterdam has every opportunity to make 2013 an exceptional year.”
In 2013, Amsterdam will mark a number of significant milestones, including 400 years of the Canal Ring, the 125th anniversary of the Concertgebouw, the 40th anniversary of the Van Gogh Museum and the opening of the Rijksmuseum. These and other extraordinary milestones will be celebrated with a series of exhibitions, concerts and special events. In addition, a number of new initiatives will be introduced in 2013, including Amsterdam 24H and Amsterdam Hotel Night.
Amsterdam Marketing looks forward to working closely with KLM throughout 2013 and beyond.
