Oud-West
Il quartiere Oud-West è l’elegante salotto della città di Amsterdam. I quartieri tranquilli si alternano a vie frequentate e ricche di negozi. In questa zona convivono abitanti di ogni strato della popolazione. Vi si trovano mercati popolari, ma anche edifici chic, luoghi di incontri culturali e raffinati terrazzi.
Passeggiata
Le vie fra il Vondelpark e Overtoom sono perfette per una tranquilla passeggiata. Vi troverete antichi alberi, maestosi edifici del 19° secolo e la chiesa Vondelkerk. Osservate le Zevenlandenhuizen (Case dei sette paesi) del 1894 nella Roemer Visscherstraat; ogni casa di questa fila rappresenta uno stile architettonico di un diverso paese d’Europa. In questa parte di Oud-West sorge anche l’Hollandsche Manege, la scuola di equitazione più antica dei Paesi Bassi. Nell’elegante edificio del 1882 si tengono ogni giorno lezioni di equitazione ma si può anche passare semplicemente per una visita.
Piaceri gastronomici
Nel quartiere Oud-West troverete anche un’ampia scelta gastronomica. I camerieri di Bicken, ad esempio, servono piatti raffinati in un ambiente rilassato. Lab 111 è il ristorante della piattaforma artistica SMART Project Space, situato in un ex laboratorio di anatomia patologica. Al piano inferiore, nel trendy GoldenBrown vi è un accogliente caffè, mentre al piano di sopra si servono prelibati piatti francesi.
Preferite cucinare? Presso l’accogliente Ten Katemarkt, dal lunedì al sabato vi sono bancarelle di prodotti alimentari. Per i buongustai che hanno a cuore l’ambiente e il benessere degli animali, è d’obbligo una visita al Marqt nella Overtoom. In questo grande negozio si possono gustare ottimi piatti preparati con un occhio alla sostenibilità ambientale. Nel negozio di specialità per la cucina In My Kitchen potrete trovare servizi, attrezzature da cucina e prelibatezze. Mentre all'uscita sud del parco troverete OCCII, locale alternativo molto frequentato dai giovani.
Accoglienti terrazzi
La variopinta miscela di abitanti del quartiere Oud-West, si può incontrare al caffè Alverna: persone provenienti da tutto il mondo si incrociano sull'enorme terrazzo di questo bar vecchio più di cent'anni. Un altro particolare terrazzo è quello di Vertigo; dal pianerottolo di questo maestoso edificio potrete godere di un magnifico panorama sul Vondelpark.
