City on the Water Events

2005 is the theme year 'Amsterdam: City on the Water'. Next to the regular water-related events that take place yearly in the city, several special programmes have been created especially for these celebrations.

Water-related events occupy a special place on the Amsterdam calendar: the Sloop race Amsterdam-IJmuiden in April; the National Tugboat Days in May; the Amsterdam Canal Run in June, the Prinsengracht Concert in August; and the Chinese Dragon Boat races in September.

But for the year 2005, Amsterdam is adding a special programme of events that celebrates the city's relationship with water in a theme year titled 'City on the Water'. Find out more about this theme year and all it has to offer in the special area of the site dedicated to the programme.
