Close to Central Station is one of the most impressive feats of modern architecture in Amsterdam: NEMO - a large, green building shaped like a ship that accommodates the largest science center in the Netherlands. Through various playful exhibitions, NEMO introduces young and old to a world of science and technology.

NEMO - play along
The five floors with NEMO are filled with constantly renewed exhibitions, theatre shows, films, workshops and demonstrations related to science. Smell, hear, feel and see how the world works. Everything is interactive, so you can play along. In fact, at NEMO the motto is "forbidden NOT to touch".

Fabulous building
The NEMO building was designed by renowned Italian architect, Reno Piano. The exterior is clad with copper and with time it has weathered into a fantastic green colour. The roof terrace grants visitors a spectacular view across Amsterdam, and in summer months it even has a beach for toddlers.
