De Appel is an internationally-oriented arts centre based in Amsterdam. Since 1975 it has served as a leading platform for the research and presentation of contemporary art. On 23 May, Her Royal Highness Princess Maxima will preside over the festive re-opening of De Appel's new permanent location at Prins Hendrikkade 142. The centre will be open to the public starting from Friday 25 May 2012 with new extended opening times every day of the week. At their new location you can also visit Moes - a café featuring local, seasonal ingredients.
De Appel offers a varied programme of exhibitions and performances by visual artists, choreographers and theatre directors as well as presentations and debates to bring the latest developments in the arts to a wide audience. As a publisher, de Appel produces art books and monographs, periodicals and anthologies of essays. De Appel has organized the eight-month Curatorial Programme since 1994. During this exploratory process, young curators from different parts of the world are taught a range of skills and offered various experiences which can be used to further their professional career.
