Back for its 54th outing, the international equestrian event Jumping Amsterdam will return to Amsterdam in January 2013.
International equestrian event Jumping Amsterdam will celebrate its 54th edition in 2013. Held at the Amsterdam RAI, the event is an annual highlight on the Dutch equestrian calendar and draws the world’s best riders, including Olympic champions.
The event includes show jumping and dressage competitions, shows, evening entertainment, an exhibition area and various bars and restaurants.
Jumping Amsterdam attracts top-notch dressage riders to compete from all over the world. For example, there's the Grand Prix, the World Cup to music and the Amsterdam Dressage & Show Night.
The jumping programme and prize money ensure that the bar is set high and the competition fierce. Jump offs usually begin on the first night and the De Telegraaf Prize is on the following day. The Jumping Amsterdam Party follows this, moving away from horse-related entertainment to let top entertainers take the stage.
The Amsterdam RAI Prize Six Bar competition is another event not to be missed, as is the Noord-Holland Prize and the Grand Prix of Amsterdam, where the bar moves up to an incredible 1.60 metres.
There's a host of events on offer spread throughout the four jam-packed days of Jumping Amsterdam and all the competitors are in it to win it. Alongside the KNHS BMC Centaur Cup (a para-equestrian dressage competition) there's the Amsterdam Team Challenge for talented up-and-coming riders and the Silfit Masterclass which sees horses with carriages racing around the track.
In addition to the serious show jumping and dressage business there's always an extensive children’s programme featuring funny, exciting and interactive shows as well as competitions and famous riders inviting the kids to get involved. And expect plenty of other entertainment to complete the line-up - in 2012, internationally renowned Lorenzo ‘The Flying Frenchman’ performed his spectacular horse-based action show at different times throughout the event.
