Subbacultcha's Guide To Better Living

Local indie-contingent Subbacultcha! produce a magazine, run a record label, support local music, throw parties and generally help to keep Amsterdam hipsters and DIY enthusiasts excited to live in such a vibrant city.

Subbacultcha by name

Named after a Pixies song, Subbacultcha! is a bi-lingual music magazine, an indie record label and the hosts of fun, boozy parties with live music. The local upstarts and entrepreneurs are doing everything to keep a sub-culture busy, through rocking, reading or recovering.

In print

Distributed throughout the Netherlands in music venues, pubs, bars, coffee shops, record stores and all decent delft blauw pottery proprietors, Subbacultcha! the magazine is a handy little resource for the discerning music fan, all neatly-sized to fit into the back pocket of even the tightest hipster jeans. Read gig reviews of bands who have passed through town, the latest on musical trends as well as interviews with soon-to-be-visiting acts.

Gig guide

The mag also boasts a comprehensive gig guide introducing you to the local scene and its interesting indie music members and informing you of those smaller international touring artists. Also, it will inadvertently send you to the sneaky bars and venues you won't find on the Leidseplein, or even just off it. For more information and loads of free stuff including gig ticket competitions, downloads or just to keep abreast of what's happen in Amsterdam, visit Subbacultcha.
