Events in August
August kicks off with flair as Gay Pride festivities fill the streets, clubs and canals. Cross-dressing is celebrated in full bravado during the medieval Hartjesdagen. It is also a great month for outdoor cinema with the likes of Pluk de Nacht and West Beach Film Festival. Major cultural festivals such as the Grachtenfestival (Canal Festival) and Uitmarkt make for a full agenda.
