World music in Amsterdam
Vaudou Game make music that is rooted in Togo's voodoo culture. Their biggest influence, James Brown, is subtly apparent in their soul, blues and funky tracks, as they put their own traditional stamp on the genre. They just released their second album, 'Kidayu', which they will be showcasing at their Amsterdam concert. Belgian-based Black Flower is made up of former members of the Antwerp Gypsy-Ska Orchestra, Lady Linn and Absynthe Minded, so it's no surprise that their music features some of the best scales, harmonies and grooves in the business. Inspired by traditional Ethiopian grooves in particular, their high-energy, psychedelic show is not to be missed.
