Electro festival in Amsterdam
The lush forest and grassy meadows of Amsterdamse Bos makes for a sweet setting to host an electro festival. Over the years Dekmantel as a music brand has come to be associated with both the connoisseurs and iconoclasts of electro and EDM scene, as a label, party-thrower and more recently festival host.
The 2016 line-up includes James Holden and Camilo Tirado's new show 'Outdoor Museum of Fractals', Afrobeat legend Tony Allen performing with his band, Lee 'Scratch' Perry & Adrian Sherwood, the only 2016 appearance of post-punk band ESG and the return of Dekmantel favourites such as Ricardo Villalobos, Dixon, Moodymann, DJ Harvey, Donato Dozzy and Jeff Mills.
Amsterdam city limits
With the Amsterdamse Bos still serving as the festival's bucolic base, Dekmantel has added several Amsterdam locations, too. Thursday's opening night takes place at several spectacular venues on the waterfront: the contemporary music venue Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ, the EYE Filmmuseum and the Tolhuistuin. The venues are linked with free ferry services and host an additional free cultural programme. And there's a night programme on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday within the hallowed halls and sticky floors of the Melkweg.
In tents festival
Of course, if you prefer to stay put for the duration of the festival, there is the option of purchasing a camping ticket. The ticket is independent of your festival ticket with camping not organised or operated by Dekmantel. Head to the Dekmantel website for tickets and more information.
